Wall of Fame

Recipients:   All | 1995-1999 | 2000-2004 | 2005-2009 | 2010-Present

The BAA Wall of Fame exists to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Florida State University Band program. Each honoree is recognized with a plaque displayed in the Band Rehearsal Hall of the Housewright Music Building on the FSU campus in Tallahassee and on the FSU BAA website with a photograph and proclamation. Additionally, a perpetual plaque presenting the criteria for selection and the names and dates of inductees is located in the Band Rehearsal Hall.

All nominees must have A) Considerable participation as an undergraduate student in the FSU Band Program and/or B) served as an FSU College of Music faculty.

All nominees will be considered for induction based on at least one of the following three criteria:

  1. Having made significant contributions to the FSU Band Alumni Association through service and/or financial support over a sustained period of time which reflect positively on FSU and its band program;
  2. Having attained accomplishments at the national or broader regional level of importance to bands or band music over a sustained period of time which reflect positively on FSU and its band program;
  3. Having attained accomplishments in his/her chosen field of national importance and over a sustained period of time which reflect positively on FSU and its band program.

Nomination And Election Process

Completed nomination forms must be electronically submitted to the Chairman of the Board (Chairman) no later than December 31st. Those submitting nominations should review the criteria closely and be aware of the levels of achievement and recognition the WOF represents. The Chairman will forward the completed nomination forms to the WOF Review and Nomination Committee (RNC), a committee comprised of 3-5 WOF members appointed by the Chairman. The RNC will review the nominations from January through March. When needed, the RNC may contact other sources for additional information and clarification to aid and support in selecting those to be recommended to the board during the spring meeting. No more than two individuals will be inducted into the WOF in a given year. The RNC may also recommend that no one be presented as a candidate for the WOF in a given year based on a lack of nominations or a lack of nominees who reach the level of qualifications for induction.

During the spring meeting, the Board of Directors will vote on those nominees presented by the RNC. Two-thirds of the voting members present at the meeting will be sufficient to approve a nominee. Approval by the board of a nominee is contingent on the nominee’s attendance at Homecoming, or other event designated by the board, to accept the award. Nominees not approved by the board will not be considered by the RNC again for at least five years.

As soon as possible after the spring meeting, the Chairman will notify all nominees of the decision of the Board of Directors. The Chairman will advise the approved nominees that induction will take place during Homecoming
